Software Engineer - Reference Data (Java/SQL)
virtu
If you're a recent grad looking to start your engineering career somewhere that values your work on day one, this role at Virtu is worth your time. You'll own systems that matter: the reference data pipelines that feed trading, research, and operations across a financial firm operating in 36 countries. That's real responsibility, not busywork.
Your main job is to aggregate, validate, and distribute large datasets from vendors like Bloomberg and LSEG. You'll build and maintain databases and APIs, write tests, and architect solutions that solve actual business problems. The work is data-heavy and involves SQL and Java—skills that compound throughout your career.
You're a fit if you have a computer science background or equivalent, understand databases and APIs, and like solving concrete problems over theoretical ones. A portfolio showing data work or backend projects helps. The environment is flat and meritocratic, which means your ideas get heard if they're solid.
