VRChat is hiring a Staff Engineer to build the recommendation systems that help millions of users discover worlds and connect with communities. This is a strong early-career move if you want to work on infrastructure that matters—250,000+ user-created worlds depend on systems you'll design and ship.
You'll work with AWS, Python, FastAPI, Node.js, and Snowflake to build data pipelines, train personalization models, and operationalize ML systems at scale. The role involves processing large volumes of platform data to create recommendations that actually drive user engagement. You're not just building features—you're shaping how people experience social VR.
This fits you if you have a computer science or related background, solid Python skills, and some exposure to data engineering or ML. A portfolio showing data work or backend projects helps. The team includes engineers from Netflix, Meta, Google, and Discord—people who know how to ship at scale.

You will be instrumental in developing and refining the data-driven recommendations systems that help our users connect, interact, and discover content and communities. This role involves working with AWS, Python/FastAPI, Node.js, and Snowflake to build, train, and operationalize personalization systems. You will be instrumental in processing and transforming the large volumes of data generated by our platform to create meaningful user experiences.
