Senior Software Engineer
Nucs AI
This is a chance to work on healthcare technology that matters. Nucs AI is building AI tools for prostate cancer diagnosis, and they need engineers who can handle the technical weight of that responsibility. If you want early exposure to systems that directly affect patient care, this is it.
You'll design and build distributed systems that process sensitive medical data securely and at scale. That means architecting microservices, working with Kubernetes for orchestration, and integrating with hospital infrastructure. You're not shipping features into the void—you're solving real bottlenecks in how radiologists work.
This role fits you if you have a strong foundation in backend or full-stack development, understand distributed systems, and care about writing reliable code. A portfolio or past projects showing your work with APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure will help. Computer science, engineering, or adjacent technical backgrounds are typical, but what matters is what you've built.

About this role
About Nucs AI Nucs AI is revolutionizing prostate cancer care through cutting-edge AI and medical imaging technology. Founded in 2024 by a multidisciplinary team of oncologists, AI researchers, and healthcare innovators, we're tackling one of medicine's most pressing challenges: the growing demand for accurate, timely cancer diagnostics in the face of rising scan volumes and limited radiologist capacity. Our mission is to enhance diagnostic precision and expand access to expert-level prostate cancer screening, ultimately improving patient outcomes worldwide. The Opportunity Join our engineering team as a Full Stack Engineer and help build the next generation of medical imaging platforms. You'll work at the intersection of healthcare and technology, developing secure, scalable systems that directly impact patient care and clinical workflows. You'll design and implement robust distributed systems that power our AI diagnostic tools—architecting services that handle sensitive medical data reliably, scale gracefully under load, and integrate seamlessly with hospital infrastructure. What You'll Build Scalable microservices architectures using Kubernetes for orchestration and deployment Event-driven systems with RabbitMQ for reliable asynchronous processing of medical data Robust FastAPI backends that process and serve medical imaging data at scale Production-grade CI/CD pipelines with comprehensive testing, monitoring, and rollback capabilities Scalable data architectures using SQL databases with smart indexing and caching strategies Monitoring, logging, and alerting systems that ensure reliability in clinical environments Seamless integrations between internal services and external healthcare systems (HL7, FHIR) Modern React frontends for clinical workflows and data management What You Bring 3+ years of full-stack engineering experience with shipped products that real users depend on Strong system design skills with experience architecting distributed systems and microservices DevOps expertise with Kubernetes, containerization, CI/CD, and Google Cloud Platform Backend proficiency in Python with Flask or FastAPI for building reliable APIs and services Database expertise in SQL and relational data modeling for handling complex medical data Experience with message queues and event-driven architecture patterns Clear communication skills and a pragmatic approach to solving complex technical problems Frontend competency in TypeScript and React Bonus Points Experience in healthcare/medical software development Knowledge of regulatory requirements (GDPR, ISO 13485) Experience integrating ML/analytics into production workflows Strong security mindset with experience in threat modeling and compliance Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi) Experience with WebGL, WebGPU, or medical imaging frameworks (Cornerstone3D, VTK.js) Why This Role Matters Your work will directly contribute to advancing cancer care technology. Every system you build, every optimization you make, and every integration you design helps medical professionals provide better care to patients facing one of life's most challenging diagnoses. Interview Process Phone Screening (10 minutes) - Brief discussion of your key work highlights and career achievements. Technical Interview - You'll work through technical challenge(s), presenting solutions while explaining your problem-solving approach and reasoning. Cultural Interview - Discuss team fit and ask questions about the role and company culture. Originally posted on Himalayas
